Mission Codename Lot #23
Not just excited, we’re EUPHORIC today.
Sonoma County is the birthplace of Wine Spies, and we’ll never leave this slice of heaven.
It truly is a bucolic, verdant home to some very special producers. The diversity and brilliance of these world-class wineries rival the greatest on earth. And today you have a unique opportunity to sample some of their very best efforts.
Today, we give back to our County. Nearly one year ago we bid on and won the highest number of unique lots at the annual Sonoma County Barrel Auction.
After months of waiting anxiously, the wines have landed in the warehouse. And they’re all yours.
Seven marvelous lots. A handful of cases of each one. They will go fast, and we kindly request that you ‘share’ the wealth by being reasonable with how much you procure of each. These lots are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to experience the absolute best efforts of wineries and winemakers that make Sonoma special.
Oh my… representing the Alexander Valley, Fort Ross-Seaview, Petaluma Gap, Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, and Sonoma Valley appellations we have Coppola, Flowers, Far Niente, Ridge, Rafanelli, Three Sticks… Basically, you name it, we’ve got it!
The theme was “Never Before, Never Again” wines so they are one-off experiences that simply cannot be replicated or found ANYWHERE else.
Lot #23 is right up our alley… when Agent Noir saw ‘I Spy a Northern Spy’ he thought “That’s US!” And it’s a Pinot Noir by the team behind Napa superstar Far Niente?! “This is what the Russian River Valley is all about. Our Northern Spy Vineyard sits atop old lands where Russian immigrants first cultivated grape varietals 200 years ago. It doesn’t get any more traditional than that. The resulting wines are elegant and smooth, with a surprising subtlety underscoring the bright fruit character.” Resistance was futile. WE HAD TO HAVE IT.
Join Wine Spies on a day of gratitude, as Sonoma County Vintners eloquently puts it in the auction catalog; “thank you to our caring, generous, and inspirational vintners, winegrowers, sponsor partners, and all those in our wine community for all that you do. It is this dedicated and uplifting group of people who are at the very heart of our SoCoBA, our county, and the soul of these “Never Before, Never Again” wines…
THANK YOU to each and every one of you for your continued and fantastic support of Sonoma!”
