Tasting Profile
Beautiful ruby red hues, with even color concentration, from the core of the wine, out to the pink rim. After swirling, the wine settles quickly, leaving behind tall columns of skinny, wine-stained tears that run slowly down the glass.
Aromas are interwoven with one another with being cherry, fresh violence, ramble, raspberry, dark wild strawberry, sweet spice, softly toasty oak with subtle campfire and subtle forest floor.
Soft and silky on the entry. The wine then becomes supple, plush and mouthfilling. Supple tannins and a soft minerality give the wine a voluptuous complexity while a medium acidity portends great possibilities for flexible food pairing.
Delicious black and red fruit combine with earth and spice in a complex interplay of flavor. The wine leads with dark cherry, loamy fresh earth, smoky plum, flint, dried red flower petals, dried leather and toasty oak.
Bright and mouthwatering, with flavors that linger on for a very long time. As fruits fade, earthy flavors persist even longer, gradually creating a chewy feel that is accompanied by a flinty dryness.
What the Winery Says
Otago’s once famous gold mining area. With most of the gold now gone, it’s Pinot Noir making this area famous again.
We look for a wine with many layers and many flavors. The region yields dark, intense wine with purple touches, brooding and developing over time.
We tend to use specific clones to give lovely hints of violet on the nose, backed by ripe cherry and slight smokiness. To describe this wine as “generous” requires contemplation, complex is a better word.

About the Winery
Our Philosophy
Kim Crawford Wines started out in a small Auckland cottage in New Zealand.
Since launch in 1996, the label has gained critical acclaim around the globe. Being big was never our aim. Being the best has been.
Pouring a glass of Kim Crawford Wine promises great times with friends; it often heralds a spirited lunch or lively evening. It conveys confidence in a stylish, stimulating environment.
We do things unconventionally, take risks, start things, welcome different. Screw caps keep wine fresher than corks. So we started championing them. We decided the world needed a clean, top quality, fruit driven Chardonnay devoid of the heavy oak. So we started making one.
